Writing Content for Your Web Site III

Home Page

With the fundamentals under your belt lets start the writing process with the home page first. Later you can focus on writing great copy for the rest of your web site.

Think of a Book

Think of your web site as a book. Your home page is your cover, synopsis and table of contents all in one. Your web pages will then be the chapters with all the information of your book (web site). Don't forget that your home page needs to be written for your target audience. Your target audience will consist of both new visitors, who type your web site address directly into their browsers, and long time clients accessing your web site. Make sure you have something for everyone.

This does not mean your home page should be a clutter of information. Be careful not to fall into the trap of putting everything contained in your web site on your home page. As I previously mentioned, your home page is a brief overview of your web site with links to take them deeper into your web site. This will give your new visitors an idea of who you are and what they can do on your web site. . .
